Nyesom Wike just won Rivers PDP Governorship primaries

The embattled Former minister of state for education Nyesom Wike contesting for 2015 Rivers governorship position has won the just concluded Rivers State PDP governorship primaries.

Wike had 1, 083 votes out of 1,108 votes casted.

President Jonathan extends the State of Emergency in North Eastern Nigeria

Today, the National Defence Council presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan has given a nod for the extension of the state of emergency in the troubled north eastern states of Nigeria.
The affected northern states includes Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa state.

The news was made known today in Abuja after the meeting by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke. He said the President would forward the request to the National Assembly for approval.

Dangote Sues Zambia’s Labour Minister over Bribery Allegations

   

    A sudsidiary of the Dangote Group in Zambia, Dangote Cement's Zambian has dragged the Zambian’s labour minister to court for alleged libel and slander after the minister accused an executive of the company for trying to bribe him.

      Few days ago, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state made it know that the pitiable financial condition of States in Nigeria should be blamed on the Federal Government as a result of the corruption and stealing at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Governor Amaechi said that dwindling revenues to States is caused by the on-going stealing of public funds from the coffers of the NNPC. The Governor said that corruption rather than oil theft was the reason for the shortfall in revenue.‎

2015: Labaran Maku to Resign On October 20th, 2014.


   The Minister of Information Labaran Maku has disclosed his intention to resign his position as the Information minister on the 20th of October, 2014 so as to enable him contest for the Nassarawa Guber election come come 2015.
The minister opened up on Sunday during a special mass thanksgiving at the Catholic Diocese of Lafia, St. Patrick’s Parish, Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
