Incident was confirmed by the state Controller of prison, Adams Omale, when he told
journalists on Monday that the prison came under attack of armed “external
forces” between 9.30 pm and 10 pm on Sunday, November 2.

Omale, the Kogi State Controller of Prisons, said 145 inmates were in the
prison when the incident occurred.
He
said 119 of the inmates were on awaiting trial while 26 were already convicts.
He also confirmed that 12 inmates were re-arrested or returned on their own
while one prisoner was shot dead during the incident.
